Kiwi Gardner left Manteca High after three memorable years with hopes of improving his stock, and it appears that he has done just that.

Now a senior at Westwind Prep International in Phoenix, the uniquely-talented 5-foot-7 guard was selected to compete in the inaugural National High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships April 1 in Cypress, Tex., the host city of the NCAA Men’s Final Four. The competition will air on Sunday, April 3 starting at 1:30 p.m. on CBS.

Gardner, the 2010 Valley Oak League MVP after leading the Buffaloes to a second-straight title, is one of 10 athletes nationwide who will be a part of the event.

The participants were selected by MaxPreps.com. In a statement released Wednesday, MaxPreps.com basketball editor Jason Hickman said Gardner, “has a chance to be the star of the show in the dunk contest.”

Gardner is a three-star rated point guard by Rivals.com. Rhode Island, San Francisco, New Mexico State, Texas Christian, Fresno State and South Florida have extended scholarship offers, but he told ArizonaPreps.com on Monday that Providence is his current favorite of the bunch.
