STOCKTON – The middle of the Northgate Reds lineup was a combined 7 for 14 and reached base 12 times to lead the Cardinals to a 10-7 come-from-behind win over the Manteca Bison in District 67 Junior Tournament of Champion action at Paul Weston Park.

Northgate countered a six-run Manteca fourth by batting around in the third and fifth innings and sending seven to the plate in the fourth, scoring all of its runs in those three frames.

Spencer Hulsebosch continued to produce out of the No. 9 hole for the Reds, starting of the third inning with a single and reaching three times on that single, a walk and a fielder’s choice. Justin Ontiveros was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Joe Menzel 2 for 2 with three RBIs and Brad Hicks 3 for 4 with a triple. Trevor Huntoon walked twice and doubled for Northgate.

Reds leadoff hitter Robbie Gleockler doubled but his main contribution was coming on in relief, taking the hill with no out and two on in the fifth. Gleockler induced a 6-4-3 double play to the first batter and a groundout to the second. He retired the first seven batters he faced before giving up a meaningless two-out walk in the seventh.

Codee Hayden and Nick Van Warmerdam each doubled for Manteca.

Northgate plays the Salida Rockies this afternoon at 5 at Weston Ranch High.
