TRACY — Despite facing five pitchers Tuesday, Spreckels Park kept up the attack from beginning to end and thumped Tracy 11-1 in six innings in the District 67 Juniors All-Star Tournament at George Albano Field.
With Tracy struggling to find the right combination from the mound, Spreckels Park was dialed in from the start with Niko Reitz (five strikeouts) toeing the rubber for the first four innings, carrying a one-hit shutout into the fourth inning when three Spreckels Park errors yielded one unearned run.
Lucas Stackpole (no hits, four strikeouts) relieved Reitz in the fourth inning and was victimized by two of his team’s three errors, getting the last two batters of the fourth inning out and retiring the next six to end the game.
Spreckels Park leadoff Troy Morrow did his job, reaching base in all five of his at-bats with three walks, an error and a single to start the game. Xavier Palacios (2 for 5, RBI, double, run) doubled in Morrow and Lucas Stackpole (2 for 3, two RBI, double, run) doubled in Palacios and Reitz, who had walked. Stackpole scored on an error off the bat of Paul Pimentel Jr. to make the score 4-0.
Elias Cruz (2 for 2, two RBI) ran the score to 5-0 when he singled in Hunter Dunham (two runs) in the third inning and Cruz capped the night’s scoring in the sixth inning when he was hit with the bases loaded, plating Louis Sequeira (two runs) to make the score 11-1.
Spreckels Park scored three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings behind just one hit, an RBI single by Tommy Miller that plated Stackpole in the sixth.
In the fifth and sixth innings, Tracy walked four batters, hit three and committed an error.
Spreckels Park advances to the championship round on Friday at Monticello School at 5:30 p.m. Tracy plays in the consolation final on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Monticello.
