The Manteca Jr. Buffaloes varsity put up 32 second-quarter points on the way to a resounding 54-0 thumping Saturday of the Lathrop Jr. Spartans in NorCal Youth Football and Cheer action.

Carson Sablan’s two carries came in the second quarter for Manteca and both were good for touchdowns – one from 22 yards out and the other on a 71-yard run. Maava Tialavea (four carries, 75 yards) scored on a 45-yard run, Brayden Camara (three carries, 64 yards) had a 28-yard touchdown run, Micah Cardoza (three carries, 35 yards) scored from 35 yards out and Joshua Graves added a 2-yard touchdown run.

Owen Gully (2 for 2 passing, 65 yards) connected with Fernando Vallalvazo on a 40-yard touchdown pass.

Cardoza led the Jr. Buffaloes defense followed with six tackles followed by Noah Navarro with five stops and Mathieu Evans with four. Albert Menchaca (three tackles) and Camara each made an interception.

 

Manteca Cowboys 37, Ceres Jr. Bulldogs 0

Five Cowboys scored in the balanced shutout of the Bulldogs.

Nico Juarez scored on a 30 yard run and a 28-yard pass from Mehtaab Banghu. Bobo Gallegos (five carries, 30 yards) plunged in a score from 2 yards out and Hoku A’pe galloped 55 yards for the other offensive touchdown.

The defense got in the act as well with Anthony Valdez getting a safety and Juels Ruiz returning a blocked punt for a touchdown.

Ruiz, Cayden Solis and Nico Juarez made three tackles each.

Jr. Buffaloes 45, Jr. Spartans 13

Lucas Ruiz scored three touchdowns for Manteca and Maddox Morales two.

Ruiz (seven carries, 176 yards) had touchdown runs of 17, 18 and 70 yards. Morales (eight carries, 131 yards) scored from 40 and 73 yards out. Kendhal Sweet-Malloy had a 6-yard touchdown run and Leiland Riggelman scored on a 37-yard run.

Erick Cortez led the Jr. Buffaloes defense with eight tackles. Tino Torres added seven stops with Morales recovering a fumble and Julian Garcia making an interception. Lucas Ruiz also contributed on defense.

 

Junior varsity

Cowboys 26, Jr. Bulldogs 13  

Nikko Hisapryor had three carries for the Cowboys and scored on all three touches.

Hisapryor tallied 199 yards on those three touches and had touchdown runs of 40, 78 and 81 yards. Julian Ramirez added an 8-yard touchdown run.

Andrew Salmeron made six tackles for Manteca with Michael Rivera, Adrian Ochoa and Antonios Sanchez making five apiece.

 

Rookies

Jr. Buffaloes 21, Jr. Spartans 7

Jaxson Eseed scored twice for the Cowboys and Luke Scalise once.

Eseed (three carries, 32 yards) scored on runs of 5 and 1 yards and Scalise (eight carries, 75 yards) scored from 11 years out. John Ellis tallied 70 yards on seven carries.

Santino Sanchez made eight tackles and a rumble recovery for Manteca. Brach Carabello added five stops with Keoni Oliver, Ellis and Manoah Ellis notching four tackles each. 

 

Rookies

Jr. Bulldogs 7, Cowboys 0

A first-quarter touchdown pass for Ceres held up for the win.

Manteca’s Terrance Montgomery carried the ball 13 times for 52 yards. Erian Johnson Jr. and Devin Cortinas contributed on offense.

Montgomery and Jonathan Morales made five tackles apiece with Brayden Davis, Ja'leah Mitchell and Michael Wynne also contributing on defense.

 

Starts

Jr. Bulldogs 35, Cowboys 0

The Manteca offense had problems getting on track.

Semaj Thornton led the Cowboys with 75 yards on eight carries. Mateo Gavino added 60 yards on 11 carries and Charvelle Moore-Stevens had four carries for 50 yards.

 

Trans-Valley Youth Football League

The Ripon Knights’ Mason Tameling, Lushen Sanders and J.P. Abrew accounted for nearly 250 offensive yards in a 40-0 thumping of the Patterson Ravens in varsity action.

Tameling was 8 of 11 passing for 141 yards passing. He hit Sanders with a 15-yard touchdown pass and snuck in a score from 1-yard out. Sanders (12 carries, 96 yards) added a 5-yard touchdown run and Abrew had 98 yards on four receptions. Blake Stuit scored on a 3-yard run and J.J. Brawley capped the day’s scoring with a 50-yard touchdown run.

Eddie Ramirez made 12 tackles and a fumble recovery for the Knights. Abrew added eight stops with Dax Beidleman and Chase Bunnell making three tackles apiece. Amos Cady added an interception.

 

Junior varsity

Knights 22, Ravens 7

Ripon’s Xavier Powell ran for one touchdown and caught another.

Powell (three carries, 75 yards; two receptions, 48 yards) scored on a 46-yard run and on an 18-yard pass from Mason Durao (seven of 10 passing, 80 yards). Gavin Decena ground out 109 yards on 16 carries with a 2-yard touchdown plunge and Mason Clark added 28 yards on four carries.

Jax Booth (seven tackles) made two interceptions for the Knights. Joshua Gonzalez racked up 18 tackles, Kaeo Sanchez 13 and Luke Veneman five. Jack De Jong, Max Abrew, David Rowe and Myles Pollard made four stops each.

 

Novice

Knights 21, Patterson Ravens 0

Mason Dodson and Rudy Torrez got the game off on the right foot for Ripon when Torrez hauled in a 45-yard touchdown pass from Mason Dodson.

Torrez had five catches for 111 yards with Dodson passing for 56 yards, completing two of three attempts and Tyce Sanchez going 3 of 3 passing for 55 yards.

Agustin Clark (10 carries, 71 yards) scored two touchdowns for the Knights with Jacob Hightower and Jameson Hicks also contributing on offense.

Nathan Fletcher just about did it all for the Ripon defense with 10 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a safety. Logan Howard added 13 tackles and a fumble recovery, Cal De Bruin six tackles, Max Neto (forced fumble) and Zane Thompson four stops apiece and Tino Abrew a fumble recovery.

 

Junior novice

Knights 27, Ravens 18

Alex Lora scored in every quarter for Ripon.

Lora (180 yards rushing) had touchdown runs of 1, 34, 40 and 70 yards. Tyce Thompson added 101 yards rushing.

Jaylen Buchanan made an outstanding interception for the Knights. Lora made eight tackles with

Luke Sanders, Hudson Postma and Robert Fletcher adding four stops apiece.
