Jr. Buffs stampede Merced Cougars

Dezmin Ware stood out on both sides of the ball Sunday to lead the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes varsity to a 32-13 win over the host Merced Cougars in Cen-Cal action at Golden Valley High School.

Ware had 16 carries for 192 yards with 9- and and 32-yard touchdown runs along with five tackles. Chris Ortiz ran for touchdowns of 4 and 10 yards, gained 46 yards on six carries, made five tackles and a pass deflection.

Tyler Brintley led the Jr. Buffaloes with seven tackles. Saul Contreras (pass deflection) added four tackles, Warren McGovern (onside kick recovery) and Tyler Ellks two apiece and Jeremiah Nagy-Garcia an interception.

 

Jaguars 26, Valley 49ers 0

The Jaguars racked up 20 second-half points and allowed only two first downs Saturday.

Angel Garay led the Jaguars with 108 yards on nine carries with a rushing touchdown and a 25-yard touchdown catch from Miguel Sequira (five carries, 47 yards). Garay was also in on four tackles with an interception and two deflected passes. Jose Ceja scored a touchdown, made seven tackles and blocked a punt recovered by Marcello Grajeda for a touchdown.

 

Junior Varsity

Jr. Buffaloes 45, Cougars 12

Kyle Jackson scored four touchdowns for the Jr. Buffaloes, gaining 183 yards on the ground and he also recovered an onside kick.

Garett Genilla (69 yards receiving) had a touchdown for Manteca. Kevin Thornburg (seven tackles) scored on a 48-yard run and Tyler Diaz scored on a 14-yard run. Jacob Sandoval led the Jr. Buffaloes with eight tackles and a fumble recovery.

 

Jaguars 31, 49ers 6

Dominic Rea ran for one touchdown and threw for another for the Jaguars.

Rea had nine carries for 141 yards. Darion Chavis added 70 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown and Jake Kawakami tallied 58 yards on 12 carries. Lorenzo  Ceja ran for two touchdowns.

Ryan Zimmerman had five tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception to lead the Manteca defense that allowed just 60 yards. Jesse Miranda (fumble recovery) added six tackles, Fernando Duran (two interceptions and a forced fumble) and Aron Craig (forced fumble, tipped pass) had four tackles apiece and Victor Martinez caused two fumbles. 

 

Peewee

Jaguars 20, 49ers 6

Zane Salgado tallied three sacks totaling 17 yards for the Jaguars.

Salgado ran for 58 yards and Kaiona Ontai had 40 yards rushing with a 27-yard touchdown run. Marcus Brennan had 28 yards rushing with a touchdown.

Dylan Zimmerman, Alfredo Ramirez, and Alex Gatty had standout games on the offensive line for Manteca, and  Jacob Hernandez had three key special-team tackles.

 

Jr. Buffaloes 13, 49ers 7

Eduardo Lomeli had 12 tackles for the Jr. Buffaloes tackles and caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Dylan Deprater.

Bryan Howe scored the other Manteca touchdown on a 5-yard run and Daniel Rushing had six carries for 54 yards.

Deprater had seven tackles and an interception, Colton Stonum six tackles, Bryan Howe five and Omar Villanueva four.

 

Rookies 

Manteca Jaguars

Isac Hashim ran for two touchdowns and 90 yards and made three tackles for the Jaguars.

Moises Alverado ran for 80 yards with a 40-yard touchdown run and he made four tackles. Will Norris was in on five tackles and Elijah Rizo four.

 

Jr. Buffaloes 13, 49ers 7

Peyton Nieman had carries for 50 yards and was in on six tackles for the Jr. Buffaloes.

Anthony Nixon led the Manteca defense with seven tackles, Bryson McMichael five, Nickolas Garcia and Quinn Martinez four apiece and Logan House three.

House picked up 65 yards on two carries and Gage Pfeifer gained 55 yards and scored one touchdown for the Jr. Buffaloes.
