Jr. Buffs struggle against Rams

The Manteca Jr. Buffaloes struggled to get things going offensively in their 30-0 Trans Valley Youth Football League loss to the Modesto Rams Saturday at East Union High.

Among the defensive standouts were Angel Perez with eight tackles, Sam Rohovit with seven tackles, Jake Menasco with six and Tanner Peterson and Tyler Graves with five apiece.

The Jr. Buffs hope to bounce back against the Westside Niners this Saturday at Manteca High.

Rams 24, Jr. Buffaloes 8


The Jr. Buffaloes had little trouble moving the chains as evidenced by Miguel Lopez’s 110 rushing yards, but they had trouble finishing drives. Lopez also accounted for the team’s only touchdown.

Kyle Rachels had six tackles to pace the defense, while Bobby McConlogue turned in four tackles and an interception, Brian Contreras added five tackles.

Rams 19, Jr. Buffaloes 0


Troy Avila and Gino Allen each recovered a fumble to spark a solid defensive effort, but Manteca struggled to get its offense on track with Modesto’s defensive linemen dominating the trenches.
