Jr. Twolves thwart Tracy comeback

With the Tracy Jr. Bulldogs varsity threatening to score and come within a touchdown late in the third period, Dominic Day blitzed off the corner and batted a Tracy pass into the arms of Jesus Gallegos who galloped 58 yards for a Manteca Jr. Timberwolves touchdown on the way to a 38-6 win in opening-round Delta Youth Football League playoff action at Dino Cunial Field.

Michael Sucher led the Jr. Timberwolves with 90 yards rushing and three touchdowns as well as a 38-yard touchdown pass to Tarnjot Singh. Josiah Medina added 118 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Manteca will play in the DYFL South Conference championship game against the Dublin Fighting Irish on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Ceres High.

 

Novice

Jr. Timberwolves 26, Vikings 0

Alijah Cota eclipsed the 100-yard mark and scored three touchdowns for the Jr. Timberwolves.

Cota scored from 5, 15 and 50 yards out and Tommy Perea added a 3-yard touchdown run. Luke Abrew ran in an extra point and threw for another to Keyshawn Robinson.

Francisco Murillo, Andrew Ortega, Isaiah Sanchez, and Micah Saldana were defensive standouts for Manteca.

The Timberwolves face off with the Dublin Fighting Irish in the DYFL South Conference championships Saturday at noon at Ceres High.
