Knights charge past Steelers

Kyle Jacklich and Nick Creighton each scored two touchdowns to lead the varsity Ripon Knights over the Salida Steelers 48-8 in Trans-Valley Youth Football League action Saturday at Ripon Christian High School.

Jacklich had touchdown runs of 6 and 22 yards while Creighton scored on a 2-yard run and returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown. Cade Alger scored on a 40-yard pass from Marcello Longstreth and Isaac Killngbeck returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown.

Alger and Trey Longstreth each had an interception and Reagan Kelley and Drew Van Vliet both had two sacks.

 

Junior varsity

Knights 20, Steelers 0

Nolan Lingley was in on two touchdowns for the Knights.

Lingley hit Wyatt Van Vliet with a touchdown pass and scored on a 20-yard quarterback draw. Jacob Van Groningan hit Luke Weaver with a scoring pass for the other Ripon score.

Garrett Bryan, Erik Weststyn and Jeramiah Willey all played well on the offensive line for the Knights. The Ripon defense posted its second shutout in a row and was led by Armando Torres, Garrett Bryan, Van Vliet, Sean McGovern and Josh Grababowski.

 

Novice

Steelers 7, Knights 0

Mitch Lill and Evan Jeffery each had a sack for the Knights and Thys van Der Hoek, Jacob Cormier, Jaylin Jackson, Christopher Cavazos, Colton Bryan, Griffin de Abreu, Nic Schatmeier, Jay Azavedo, Jake Eastwood, Jace Beidleman and Michael O’Neil all played well on defense.

De Abreu had 51 yards rushing and Evan Jeffery 23 yards rushing.

 

Junior novice

Zach Grabowski scored on a 40-yard toss for the lone Knights touchdown. On the game’s last play Hunter Steele rand for 38 yards on a reverse before being knocked out of bounds at the 2-yard line.
