Knights’ run game too much for Modesto Raiders

Xavier Powell scored three touchdowns for the Ripon Knights in a 41-6 win over the Modesto Raiders on Saturday in Trans-Valley Youth Football League action.
Powell gained 77 yards on eight carries. Chris Alfaro (six carries, 35 yards) and Statler Postma (two carries, 30 yards) each added a rushing score with Max Abrew gaining 31 yards on two carries.

Joshue Gonzalez tallied 12 tackles to pace the Ripon defense. Ryder Shelton added 11 stops, Drew Walker eight and Zander Rivera five.

Junior varsity

Knights 26, Raiders 12

Ripon’s Jack Schaapman made two interceptions, returning one 25 yards for a touchdown to seal the game with his second touchdown of the contest.

Jessy Vega (seven carries, 65 yards) scored on a 36-yard run for the Knights. Maverick Brum (nine carries, 35 yards) ran in a score from 7 yards out and Mason Dodson (3 of 6 passing, 47 yards) threw a 42-yard touchdown pass. Johnathan Postma added 35 yards on three caries with offensive contributions from Travis Maltes and Hudson Rushing.

Ripon’s Cal De Bruin made eight tackles followed by Jessy Vega with seven, Maverick Brum with six, Hudson Anthony five and four apiece for Nathan Fletcher and Jack Schaapman. Ryker Christensen made an interception and David Van Klaveren, Max Neto and George Bogetti all contributed on defense.



Knights 28, Raiders 7

The Ripon defense was swarming with 17 different players making tackles.

Chase Rubenaker led Knights defense with 10 tackles. Adrian Anaya and Shooter Bruns added seven stops apiece, Grayson Feldhaus six with five each for Austin Stirrat and Keagan Heuvel.

Hudson Postma (10 carries, 147 yards) galloped for scoring runs of 57 and 65 yards. Keagan Heuvel added an 11-yard touchdown run and Owen Degenstein connected with Tyce Thompson for a 39-yard touchdown pass.


Junior novice

Knights 31, Raiders 0

Ripon did not allow one first down.

Nikolai Gorbunoff forced a safety and made five tackles for the Knights. Chase Johnson made nine tackles, Jaxson Quilantang (fumble recovery) eight, Lucas Durao four and Aiden John three. Eli Browne, Logan Stirrat and Mearl Thompson all contributed on defense for Ripon

Lucas Durao gained 136 yards on five carries with a 16-yard touchdown run for the Knights. Jaxson Quilantang gained 42 yards on his two carries with touchdown runs of 2 and 40 yards. Eli Browne gained 51 yards on six carries and Nikolai Gorbuoff (two carries, 36 yards) added a 29-yard touchdown run. Keegan Lewellen, Mearl Thompson and Jaxon Muschott all contributed to the Ripon offense.
