In a wild back-and-forth battle, Harpreet Dhaliwal and the under-8 boys Lions prevailed 5-3 over the Sharks in Manteca Area Soccer League play Saturday at Woodward Park.
The Lions struck quickly, as Dhaliwal fired his two goals in the first 10 minutes of action. But the Sharks scored three unanswered, with the tying and go-ahead scores coming in the second half. The Lions countered with a three-goal flurry of their own to sneak away victorious.
Bobby Martin, Jahir Munguia and Luke Samson scored a goal apiece for the Lions. First-half goalie Michael Arriola, with help from defenders Hunter Darden, Nickolas McConnell and Elias Trujillo, did well to hold the Sharks in the early going.
