TRACY — Patience is a virtue.

In the 15-5 four-inning win for Manteca over Northgate in a District 67 quarterfinal of the 10U All-Star Tournament at the Tracy Sports Complex on Monday night, Manteca drew 11 walks and two batters were hit by a pitch with Manteca needing just five hits for the mercy-rule win.

Blake Scalise reached base three times and scored twice for Manteca, going 2 for 2 with an RBI triple and a walk. Terrance Montgomery walked three times and scored three times while Dominick Kotta and Victor Nuno scored twice. In the first inning Brady Baltazar belted a two-RBI double and scored.

Northgate’s Jaxson Eseed was 2-for-3 with two RBI, a double, triple and a run. Teammate Jackson Frisk went 2 for 3 with two runs.

Tonight at 6 Northgate plays in an elimination game and Wednesday at 6 p.m. Manteca faces either Tracy or Spreckels Park in the semifinal.

Brach Carabello had a home run with three RBI to lead Manteca to the mercy-rule win to start the tournament Saturday.

Carabello and Scalise (two doubles, three RBI) were each 2 for 4. Roman Christensen went 2 for 2, Aiden Freitas had a double and Baltazar drew three walks and hit a single.

Nuno (four strikeouts, one hit, no walks) pitched three innings for Manteca and Cam Masudi (strikeout, four hits, two runs, no walks) threw two innings.

 

MAJORS

Manteca 18, Salida 0

Manteca started the tournament Saturday with a convincing shutout win.

Brody Carabello led the Manteca hit parade, going 4 for 4 with an RBI, a triple and three runs. Fabian Nuno (3 for 4, RBI) and Nicholas Garcia (three RBI) each belted a home run, Jeremy Cross was 2 for 2 with two RBI and two doubles while Brixton Ortiz (2 for 3, two RBI) and Mateo Ceja (RBI) each hit a triple.

Manteca faces Northgate on Wednesday night at 6 in a quarterfinal contest.
