Connor Weibel and Cade Huisken combined to no-hit the Northgate Red Sox as the Ripon Phillies scored three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings Monday to defeat Northgate 8-0 in second-round

Weibel pitched into the fourth inning, striking out seven and walking none, allowing one hit and striking out the side in order in the second inning. Huisken took the mound with two on and no out in the fourth and struck out the next three batters to end the inning.

Huisken also struck out the side in the fifth and finished with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Ripon leadoff batter Jack Strickland scored three times and belted an RBI double. Trentan Cloward went 2 for 2 with a pair of runs.

Iziais Rodriguez had the lone hit for the Red Sox and Daryl Carpenter reached twice on hard-hit errors.

Northgate plays either Salida or Mountain House in an elimination game on Wednesday and Thursday the Phillies face Weston Ranch in a quarterfinal contest with both games at 5:30 p.m. on Gillen Field.


Manteca Braves 14, Tracy Yankees 0

With the Manteca bats going wild, Jeremy Cross threw three-no-hit innings for the Braves on Monday in second-round action on Bassi Field.

Mykal Cerna (2 for 3, two RBI, double) and Nicholas Garcia each belted a home run for Manteca. Mateo Ceja went 4 for 4 with two RBI and started the game off win a hit off the fence.

Manteca plays the Spreckels Park Tigers in a quarterfinal contest Thursday at 5:30 p.m. on Bassi Field.



Manteca Giants 10, Weston Ranch 9

With the game tied at 9-9 with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth and one out, Decker Hogan belted a walk-off RBI single to give Manteca the win in a second-round game Monday evening in Patterson at the T.W. Patterson Sports Complex.

The Giants struggled to score runs early and were kept in the game by the pitching of Isiah Todd and the catching of Victor Nuno who threw out seven base runners.

Nuno and Todd each had two RBI.

Manteca plays Northgate on today at 7 p.m. in a quarterfinal game.
