Racers were out in force on Sunday, getting prepared for the Regional District Double Points race that will draw BMX racers and fans from all over Northern California to the Spreckels Park BMX Race Track.

Nearly 300 riders and families flooded the BMX park, and there was some great race action as always. The big winner of the day went to 8-year-old Ty Murray of Escalon, who held off a late race challenge from a pair of hard charging Manteca locals, Ezra Crivello and Mateo Miranda.

Special signup and race times for the regional event are as follows: Saturday signup and practice are from 10 a.m. to noon, with racing starting as soon as possible.

Special awards will be handed out to top-three placers in all divisions, and double-district points are awarded.

On Sunday, bring out your carved pumpkins on Sunday for our Pumpkin Carving Contest. Signup and practice times for Sunday’s races are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with racing starting as soon as possible. ABA BMX membership information is available on race day.

The track is located at Spreckels Avenue, cross street Moffat Blvd. Admission is free for spectators, and there is a $10 entry fee for racing. Helmet, long sleeves, pants and a BMX or mountain-style bicycle are required to compete. Loaner equipment is available at the track.
