Manteca High junior Leah Manuleleua helped the California Cougars 98 girls soccer team claim the Davis Legacy College Showcase championship in the under-17 division and was named Player of the Tournament in the process.

The Cougars capped off their run with a penalty kick shootout against Juventus Lightning. Down 1-0, the Cougars tied it up in the second half thanks to Manuleleua’s assisted goal to Marissa Alavizos. Manuleleua made her attempt in the shootout, which was won 5-4 by the Cal Cougars.

The Buffalo’s standout center midfielder scored two goals and two assists in five matches. Cal started out with a 3-0 shutout of Castro Valley SC with Manuleleua providing one of the goals. Following a 2-1 loss to Federal Way Football of Washington, the Cougars bounced back with a 1-0 win over La Galaxy South Bay. Manuleleua accounted for the lone goal.

The Cougars earned their spot in the finals with their 3-0 victory over FC Elk Grove. Salma Flores had a hat trick, and Manueleua contributed with an assist.

Manuleleua recorded 19 goals this past spring in leading Manteca to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III finals and was named to the Manteca Bulletin’s All-Area Girls Soccer Team.
