Middleton, JV Chargers bolt past Dublin

The Dublin Fighting Irish blanked the Manteca Chargers varsity 30-0 in Delta Youth Football League action.

Michal Torio and Roman Duvernay paced the Manteca offense.

Torio made four tackles, Alejandro Rodriguez and Nicholas Holt had three stops apiece and Dominic Roa also contributed on defense.

 

Junior varsity

Chargers 30, Fighting Irish 20

Manteca’s Isaiah Middleton scored three touchdowns.

Middleton (eight carries, 174 yards) scored on runs of 30, 42 and 65 yards. Isaiah Herrera ran for a 5-yard touchdown and threw a 15-yard scoring pass to Darren Ellis. Danny Olaquibel added 74 yards on five carries.

Stephen Graham led the Chargers defense with five tackles. Olaguibel and Middleton added four stops apiece and Jayden Omadhebo made three tackles.

 

Novice

Chargers 14, Fighting Irish 6

Manteca’s Christian Hernandez completed a pair of touchdown passes.

Hernandez (six completions, 49 yards) threw scoring passes of 3 yards to Royce Robinson and 5 yards to Jayden Alpiche.

Arieon Shortridge led the Chargers ground game with 46 yards on seven carries with support from Lloyal Galtney and Aliah Magana.

Adrian Dominguez made four tackles for Manteca. Kingston Bullock-Johnson added three stops with Diesel Spangler, Luke Akao and Alpiche all contributing on defense.

Manteca used a balanced attack for the win

Jayden Shortridge (five carries, 94 yards) scored on a 21-yard run for the Chargers, Jharon Jackson (eight carries, 68 yards) added a 5-yard scoring run, Jeremiah Silva (eight carries, 54 yards) ran in a score from 6 yards out and Shayne Sutherland Jr. scored on a 2-yard run.

Silva made four tackles for Manteca with Christian Porter (fumble recovery) and Shortridge adding three stops each. 3 tackles
