Manteca comes up short in Cen-Cal football action

David Flores Melo racked up 135 yards on 16 carries with a 29-yard touchdown run for the Manteca Raiders in a 34-6 loss to the Pitman Pride in Cen-Cal action on Saturday at Guss Schmiedt Field. 

Louis Sequeira was 7 for 14 passing for 76 yards with Andrew Yzaguirre making four catches for 42 yards and Ricardo Villavalzo made three catches for 34 yards.

Mason Gibson led the Raiders with 12 tackles followed by Flores Melo with six, Ricardo Villavalzo, Moises Alvarado, Ramon Delrio and Justin Tisdell with four apiece and Andrew Yzaguirre, Sequeira and Xavier Guerrero with three each. David Talavera and Gonzalo Galvan also contributed to the Manteca defense. 

Junior Varsity

Pride 35, Raiders 0

Fernando Villalvazo had 50 yards on seven carries for the Raiders.

Damien Rease and Daniel Huerta also contributed on offense for Manteca.

Ivan Huerta was in on 13 tackles for the Raiders. Noah Navarro added nine tackles and Samuel Avila had eight. 

Peewee

Pride 42, Raiders 0 

Jacob Ramirez made six tackles for the Raiders.

Issac Covarrubias added three stops with Aeryk Snyder, Jose Rivera, Jordan Murphy, Sergio Hernandez, Manuel Haro, Marshal Singleton, Zack Smith, Jaxon Messer, Issac Penaloza and Aiden Mariscal all contributing on defense. 

Covarrabuis and Hernandez led the Manteca offense with support from Marshal Singleton, Geno Acevedo and Jordan Murphy. 

Rookies

Raiders, Pride (No score kept at this level)

DeAndre Patterson ran for 65 yards for the Raiders. 

Ayden Brush made four tackles for Manteca. Kristian Miranda and Elijah Arreola added three stops each. 

 

Northern California Youth

Football League Varsity

Manteca Cowboys 31, Galt Jr. Warriors 0 

 Dylan Lee threw for two touchdowns and ran for one and teammate Keona Cayode ran for two and caught one to lead the Cowboys.

Lee had a 5-yard touchdown run and was 6 of 13 passing for 132 yards with touchdown throws of 65 yards to Cayode and 35 yards to Ace Avelar (46 yards receiving) on a fourth and 10. Cayode (83 yards rushing, 65 yards receiving) added 5- and 20-yard touchdown runs. 

Angel Ramirez, Seth Baker, Emilio Perez, Marques Callahan and Colton Stonum also contributed on offense for the Cowboys.

Angel Ramirez led Manteca with seven tackles. Stonum and Nick Luna added six tackles apiece, Avelar and Cayode had both had four tackles and an interception and Josh Phillips and Mariah Gill made three 3 tackles apiece.

Renald Bacigalupi, Matthew Mehia, Gurjaan Bhangu, Joey Mendez, Fateh Singh and Emilio Perez all contributed to the Cowboys defense.

Manteca Jr. Timberwolves 38,

Lodi Colts 0

Alijah Cota and Tommy Perea scored two touchdowns each for the Jr. Timberwolves. 

Cota (11 carries, 95 yards) scored on runs of 20 and 42 yards. Tommy Perea (eight carries, 70 yards) scored on 2- and 10-yard runs, Keanu Duenas (nine carries, 92 yards) made his one catch count with a 28-yard touchdown reception from Joey Lopez and Evyn White added a 12-yard touchdown run. 

Jason Agulay made eight tackles to pace the Manteca defense. White (fumble recovery) added five stops, Duenas had four tackles, Cota recovered a fumble and Luis Rivera made an interception.

Junior Varsity

Cowboys 34, Warriors 8 

Nico Salcido set the tone for the Cowboys when he gave his team an early lead on a 47-yard touchdown scamper on fourth down and 18 yards to go.

Bryson Davis picked up 139 yards on 11 carries for Manteca with scoring runs of 9 and 18 yards.  Salcido (six carries for 67 yards) added a 5-yard scoring run. Izahay Houston chipped in 65 yards on five and Gabriel Flores had 45 yards on five carries.

Landon Butler scored on a 37-yard scoop and score when Gavin Goodwin, Davis and Isaac Alvaraz stripped the ball from the Warriors quarterback.

Alvarez was in on 21 tackles. Davis added 17, Goodwin 13, Butler nine, Alvarez seven, Mount and Santana Stevenson five each and Julian Perez (forced fumble), Jaden Gallego and Morgan Barcliff four apiece.  Houston made an interception and Mauricio Zaupa recovered a fumble.

Rookies

Cowboys 40, Warriors 0

Dylan Stonum scored a pair of touchdowns for the Cowboys.

Stonum scored from 32 and 50 yards out. Nikko Juarez had a 24-yard touchdown run, Jeremy Ap’e ran in a score from 15 yards out and Christopher Gallego had an 8-yard touchdown run. Gabriel Lopez pulled in a 6-yard scoring pass from Anthony Morales 

Koa Rodrigues led the Manteca defense with seven tackles. Dylan Stonum and Christopher Gallego had four stops apiece, Devin Downey and Christopher Rosales added three tackles each and Gabriel Lopez and Mehtaab Bhangra both recovered a fumble. 

Starts

Warriors 12, Cowboys 7

A 35-yard Elias Lopez touchdown was all the offense that the Cowboys could muster.

Lopez picked up 74 yards on 10 carries. Kaleb Moreno added 49 yards on 10 carries. 

Lopez led the Manteca defense with 15 tackles followed by Adrian Sena with seven,  Maleriq De La Rosa with six and Mario Quezada with five.

Timberwolves 40, Colts 0

Brody Carabello ran for two Timberwolves touchdowns and threw for one.

Carabello (five carries, 125 yards) scored on runs of 38 and 45 yards and hit Rudy Torrez with a 70-yard scoring pass. Elijah Pugh ran the ball twice and scored both times – from 58 and 31 yards out and Leiland Riggelman (three carries, 72 yards) had a 54-yard touchdown run.

Carabello, Tino Torres and, Brixton Menchaca-Ortiz all made two tackles each and Brennan McMichael recovered a fumble. Riggelman, Torrez and John Ellis also contributed on defense.

Football League Varsity

Ripon Varsity 32, Gustine Redskins 6

Blake Nichelson ran for two touchdowns, caught one and returned an interception for another for the Knights.

Nichelson pulled in a 79-yard touchdown pass from Trey Fasani and the two combined for 99 passing/receiving yards. 

Nichelson’s interception return was from 8 yards and he added a second interception and eight tackles. Stanley Kensic, Thys Vanderhoek and CJ. Cavasoz all had three tackles each.

Junior Varsity

Knights 46, Redskins 0 

Eight different Knights scored touchdowns. 

Stephen Dillman (89 yards rushing) scored on a 57-yard run. Anden Ries (35 yards rushing) had a 30-yard touchdown run, Cade Gemmell scored from 22 yards out and Jace Beidleman found 

Marcus Ortiz scored with a 3-yard touchdown pass. 

Jacob Camper returned a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown, Rey Galindo scored on a 40-yard punt return and Andrew Mensonides (fumble recovery) returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown. Carson Sanders added 42 yards rushing

Jacob Camper led the Knights with five tackles followed by Cade Gemmell (forced fumble, fumble recovery) with four and Sanders, Stephen Dillman and Jackson Baber with three each. Brady Rossi, Jameson Clark, Brody Nail, Calvin Ryans and Jesse Healy all contributed on defense. 

Novice

Knights 32, Redskins 6 

Gavin Decena was in on four touchdowns for the Knights 

Decena (146 yard rushing, 100 yards passing) ran for two touchdowns and found Jack Peters and Mason Durao for a touchdown pass each. Dax Beidleman (nine carries, 34 yards) added a touchdown. 

Chase Bunnell made six tackles while Landon Corcoran, Mason Durao and Jack Peters each had five stops. Jaiden Rodriguez added an interception.

League Junior Varsity

Ripon Knights 62,

Waterford Sabercats 7

Kaden MacDannald scored three touchdowns for the Knights.

MacDannald (eight carries, 103 yards) pulled in a 42-yard scoring pass from Tyler Paul Wentworth and scored on runs of 2 and 50 yards. Wentworth added a touchdown on a 1-yard fumble return, Garrison Reis (4 for 5 passing, 35 yards) hit Seth Van Dyk with touchdown passes of 9 and 10 yards, Jesus Ochoa had a 5-yard touchdown run and a 13-yard scoring pass to Xzavier Clark and Quinn Martinez scored from 3 yards out. 

Fernando Alaniz (two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery) was in on six tackles for Ripon. Clark (interception), Wentworth, Reis and Ochoa had three tackles each and Ty Herrin recovered a fumble.
