ELK GROVE — The Manteca Rangers United under-13 girls soccer team placed second in the Cal North Association Cup held at Bartholomew Sports Park this past weekend.

Sacramento WS Lightning topped the Rangers 2-1 in sudden-death overtime for the championship. They first won one and tied twice in group play to advance to the semifinals, where they edged Natomas United Kick Kats, 1-0.

Four different Rangers scored the team’s five goals: two by Bella Castro, and one apiece from Taylor Campbell, Josie Herrera and Michaela Bitle. Daniella Torres and Kaley Miller contributed assists. Isabella Cruz split time at goal with Bitle. 

Jennae Ramirez, Julia Ramos, Kayla DeAnda, Mariana Huizar, Mia Treacy and Nicole Gonzalez make up the rest of the team. Wil Ramirez, Elvis Rubio and Marcus Huizar are the coaches.

The Rangers advanced to the State Cup, which takes place in March.
