Ripon Aquatics girls teams compete in Hardcore Cup

Ripon Aquatics sent two girls teams to the Hardcore Cup last weekend in Reedley and Sanger.

The 16-under team coached by Molly Burton placed eighth, winning one of its four contests.

The lone win came against the Bulldogs, 9-2. Thirteen-year-old Reyna Biedermann of Colony Oak School in Ripon accounted for six of the goals, while Ripon High’s Tiffany Hunter came up with 10 blocks.

Giana Ramos added two goals, while Lauren Ellis contributed one. They’re both Sierra students. Kennedi Winter (Ripon) chipped in four assists, and 11-year-old Emery Biedermann (Colony Oak) added two.

Ripon opened with a 10-5 defeat to Rebel. Ellis led the way with three goals, Winter scored the other two and Hunter recorded nine blocks. The team blanked by Arroyo Grande 10-0 but had chances to get on board, missing on all 15 of its shot attempts. Hunter finished with 10 saves.

In its final match of the tourney, Ripon was edged out by American River, 6-4. Ellis tallied two goals, Reyna Biedermann had one goal and two assists, Emery Biederman scored one goal, Winter added an assist and Maddie Curtiss (Ripon) also had an assist. Hunter picked up another nine blocks.

Also competing for the 16-under team: Georgia Beebe, Keira Brink, Keira Ellis, Faith Fasani, Amy Fadeff and Crystallyn Tran.

 

18-under

Ripon was able to salvage a win in its final outing, 11-4 over Orcutt. The team finished in 13th place.

Ripon’s losses were to Sacramento (15-2), MoStan (10-6) and American River (8-7).
