Vivienne Taylor is a second grader at Ripona Elementary School.

The Ripon youngster is an honor student in the classroom and was recently awarded the Ripona Elementary School’s Character Counts Award for April.

She exemplified the six pillars of Character – Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, and Caring.

Vivienne Taylor, like her brother Ricky Taylor – he’s a fifth grader Ripona and recently finished second in the state by an inch – is a standout on the BMX track.

Both train five days a week at Spreckels Park.

She’s coming off a victory in the State Championship Qualifier Race held April 23 at the Elkhorn BMX track in Rio Linda, having placed third that previous day in the Gold Cup.

The younger Taylor is currently third in the State – otherwise known as the Provincial Championship Series – in the 8-year-old girls’ Expert class. Last year, she finished sixth in the state in the age 7 Intermediate class.

Vivienne Taylor will be racing this weekend in Lemoore. The State Championship Qualifiers is scheduled for Saturday followed by the Gold Cup Qualifier on Sunday.
