STOCKTON — Manteca leadoff batter Lincoln Reynolds hit the first pitch of the game he saw from Ripon pitcher Elias Sandoval for a double Saturday at August Knodt School.

The only other Manteca base runner came via catcher’s interference in the four-inning mercy-rule affair. Sandoval was on fire, striking out seven on the way to a 14-0 win in the championship game of the District 67 Minor League All-Star Tournament.

“He (Sandoval) did good,” Ripon coach Marcos Sandoval said. “He loves pitching. He likes to get put in those situations, he wants the ball every time and he comes through for us.

“This entire team can hit. They can hit anything — fast, slow — they love to hit. They are just a complete team with pitching, hitting and defense. No matter what, we were never down in any game.”

Ripon scored in every inning: six in the second and third frames, and one each in the first and fourth. All but one Ripon batter reached base with Dylan Jasper having the big bat, going 3 for 3 with two RBI and a double. Tallon Koolhaas was 2 for 3 with two RBI, a double and two runs and hitting out of the bottom of the order Colton Visser knocked in three runs and scored one.

Lucas Durao (RBI, two runs) and Ryder Shaw both doubled; Gavin Cloward (two RBI), Derek Ponce and Evan Klein each scored two runs and Sandoval knocked in and scored a run.

Outside of Reynolds’ lead-off double, Manteca did not get the ball out of the infield.

In five tournament games, Ripon outscored the competition 75-5 and moves onto the Section championships on Saturday, July 12 in Jackson.
