William Jessup University women’s basketball star Ashley Rose, a 2009 graduate of East Union, earned honorable mention on the National Association of Interscholastic Athletics All-American team Wednesday.
The 5-foot-6 sophomore guard was named the California Pacific Conference Player of the Year. Rose averaged 15.7 points per game for the season, nailing 63 of 189 3-pointers (33.3 percent) and 150 of 194 free throws (77.3 percent) — all team-highs. She added 4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.3 steals.
She led the Warriors (9-3 CalPac, 13-18 overall) of Rocklin to a third-place regular-season finish and the conference tournament championship game, where they held a 19-point lead before losing to favored Holy Names University, 72-67. Jessup’s 13 overall victories tied a program record.
Rose joins Holy Names’ Lesley Vodiscka on the All-American honorable-mention list.
