Spreckels Park BMX in Manteca will be holding the final races of 2011 this weekend with two days of racing. 

Signup and practice times for both days are 11 a.m. to 1p.m. with racing starting as soon as possible. On Saturday, the track will host the 35-and-overOver Pro-Am, which should draw top talent from all over Northern and Central California.

In race action this past Sunday, the 8-year-old intermediate division had a strong group of contenders with hot action during qualifying rounds.

In the main event, Escalon’s Cole Murray held off a hard charge from Manteca’s Ricky Carter to gain a well-deserved victory.  The girls divisions combined their motos, with Manteca’s superstar Meghan Matthews winning her class, and the young gun “Mad Madi” Gomes of Ripon taking the 14-and-under gold.

The ABA BMX season will begin again in January. 

ABA BMX membership information is available on race day. 

The track is located at Spreckels Avenue, cross street Moffat Blvd.  Admission is free for spectators, and there is a $10 entry fee for racing.  Helmet, long sleeves, pants and a BMX or mountain-style bicycle are required to compete. Loaner equipment is available at the track.
