SALIDA – Manteca jumped out to a hot start Monday and Spreckels Park could not even respond with a hit as Devin Sullivan pitched a no-hitter for Manteca in a 9-0 win to begin the District 67 Senior All-Star Tournament at Salida Elementary School.
Mitch Balmut (3 for 5), Kyle Rachels (3 for 4, double, two RBI), and Tyler Graves (2 for 4, RBI) started off the game for Manteca with consecutive singles with Graves, Jonathan Murillo and Devin Sullivan getting and RBI apiece to spot Manteca to a 3-0 lead on four hits in the inning.
Sullivan – who walked four and struck out seven – singled in Rachels in the seventh and then Graves stole home to bump the lead to 6-0. At one time Sullivan retired nine in a row and 12 out of 13.
Manteca got its last two runs in the seventh when Rachels doubled in Zach Chamberlain and Balmut scored on a Graves groundout.
Manteca continues the tournament Wednesday against Salida and Spreckels Park faces either Tracy American or Weston Ranch on Thursday.
