The Woodward School girls basketball team won its second consecutive tournament title on Saturday at Sierra High, defeating the Golden West 49ers in the championship game.

The previous weekend, the Mustangs won the Manteca High Tournament by defeating the Hawks of Neil Hafley. The Woodward girls currently have an 11 – 0 record in Manteca Unified Student Trust play.

The Lady Mustangs are paced by a core of eighth graders starting with Syd’nee Fryer, Manteca High tournament 3-point champion and MVP. Also leading the way for the Mustangs are Lejla Pepic, Arshot Kaur, Natasha Garcia and Sierra High tournament MVP Rubel Dehal.

The Lady Mustangs also have a strong group of seventh graders led by Nicki Mason, Simran Kaur, Jasmine English, Michaela Pangburn, Serena Costodio, Stephania Mercado. 

The MUST season is winding down with four games left on the schedule before the playoffs start the week of February 25.
