YOUTH FOOTBALL: Ripon Knights conquer Central Saints in TVYFL novice blowout

Chase Johnson scored two touchdowns for the Ripon Knights novice Saturday in a 31-6 Trans-Valley Youth Football League win over the visiting Central Saints at Central Catholic High School.

Johnson (seven carries,73 yards) scored on a 5-yard run and on 62-yard pass from Mearl Thompson. Eli Browne added a pair of 15-yard touchdown runs and Thompson scored on a 34-yard run.

The offensive line of Nathaniel Grimlado, Levi Reeder, Logan Stirrat, Jaxson Quilantang, Makaio Jackson, Sartajdeep Singh, Brayden Bettencourt, and Hunter Margreiter controlled the line of scrimmage.

Ripon’s Nikolai Gorbunoff made nine tackles, Lucas Durao six with four apiece for Johnson and Quilantang and three for Browne, Aiden John and Damyn Gonzales.

 

Junior novice

Knights 6, Saints 0 (OT)

Gil Rangel scored the overtime touchdown for Ripon.

Ben Holfman led the Knights ground game with eight carries for 122 yards. Rangel added 70 yards on 12 carries and Grayson Campbell 35 yards on five carries. Hudson Browne contributed to the offense.

Ripon’s Nicolas Rangel made seven tackles, Ben Holfman (forced fumble) six, Hudson Browne four and Rangel three. Gunnar Gorbunoff recovered a fumble with Mack Ward, Dane Van Horn, Campbell, Malachi Clayton, Hunter Camera and Nico Pentoja all contributing on defense.

Manteca Chargers junior varsity 14, Tracy Rampage 0

Manteca’s Easton Barreras gained 50 yards on two receptions at Sierra High.

Issac Rashada and Diesel Spangler made four tackles each for the Chargers with three apiece for Jayar Inong, Nolan Herrera and Christian Porter. Josiah Johnson added two fumble recoveries.

 

Novice

Rampage 42, Chargers 0

Manteca’s Cameron Love posted four tackles and an interception.

Kason Hendrix and Legend Johnson made three tackles each for the Chargers with Alfredo Weigner and Aiden Reyes contributing to the defense.

 

Junior Novice

Rampage 19, Chargers 13

Manteca scored 13 third-quarter points to tie the game but Tracy added another touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Derringer Spangler (seven carries, 104 yards) scored on runs of 9 and 65 yards for the Chargers.

Spangler tallied nine tackles and forced a fumble. Legend Vincent added three stops and Francisco Santos recovered a fumble. Hunter Seals contributed to the defense.
