Reindel finishes second in state championships

Lancer Youth Wrestling team standout Jaysen Reindel just missed on becomng the 120-pound boys novice champion during the Dave Schultz Kids Freestyle State Tournament, finishing an impressive tournament run with a second place finish this past weekend in Fresno.

Reindel earned a berth into the 120-pound championship by posting a pair of wins coupled around a tournament bye. Reindel met up with Madera Wrestling Club’s Tristan Zamilpa in the title match, and came away with a more-than-respectable runner-up finish.

Reindel finished tied for third in his division with three pins during his tournament run.

Little League

Major Division

Manteca A’s 11, Northgate Angels 1

The Manteca City Tournament has gotten underway, and the Manteca Little League A’s opened with a one-sided victory over the Northgate Little League Angels 11-1 in a mercy-shortened four inning affair.

Jacob Peterson led the charge going 3-for-3 with a double, while teammate Jake Menasco was 2-for-3 also with a double. Tyler Graves was also 2-for3 in the win with a double.

Minor Division

Manteca Brewers 9, Northgate Blue Jays 0

Ryan Ward, Jacob Moon and Dylan Gross combined for 15 strikeouts and a one-hit masterpiece at Tuesday at Lincoln Park.

Groos and Moon also had two hits apiece at the plate.

Indoor Soccer

Red Devils 5, Rangers 2

The Manteca Futbol Club’s u-12 girls Red Devils had little problem taking care of the Rangers , stopping them 5-2 in the Indoor Youth Soccer Spring-Summer League opener.

Ariana Cardenas scored a pair of goals, while teammate Alanna Pringle connected on the remainder for a hat-trick.

League play will continue every Saturday morning through July.
