Rivera leads San Jose over Nuts

MODESTO (AP) — Kevin Rivera had two hits and two RBI as the San Jose Giants defeated the Modesto Nuts 4-1 on Wednesday.

San Jose batted around in the second inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring four runs, including a two-run double by Rivera.

Following the big inning, the Nuts cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Evan White scored on a wild pitch.

San Jose right-hander Melvin Adon (1-3) picked up the win after allowing one run on three hits over 5 1/3 innings. Opposing starter Randy Bell (2-3) took the loss in the California League game after giving up four runs and four hits over 1 2/3 innings. Rodolfo Martinez pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for his third save of the season.
