STOCKTON — The Stockton Cougars, of the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL-Pro), announce schedule changes for the current 2008-09 season.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Cougars will not play the Colorado Lightning on either Thursday or February 22. Instead, they have scheduled the Chico Bigfoot to play at Stockton Arena on Thursday in place of the Colorado match.
Additionally, they have moved statistical information from their Jan. 11 match against San Diego at Stockton Arena to replace their Feb. 22 match in Colorado.
Thursday’s  match starts at 7:15 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m.
Tickets are available by calling (209) 373-1550 and by visiting both the Stockton Arena box office and www.stocktontickets.com.
Staying consistent with their previous announcement, the Cougars will donate one dollar of every ticket sold from Thursday’s match to the United Way of San Joaquin County.
Thursday’s match will count toward Stockton’s regular season statistics and standings. Stockton’s magic number to clinch the Western Division can fall to just one with a win against Chico.
Chico is currently advancing to the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL-Premier) Pacific Division playoffs. The Bigfoot needs to win their playoff game on February 21 to advance to the Premier League National Finals.
Also, Colorado is not able to travel to Wenatchee on February 13 for their match against the Fire F.C. Wenatchee will instead host the Spokane Soccer Club on February 13. Spokane is a potential expansion team for the 2009-10 PASL-Pro season.
“While we never prefer to deviate from our schedule, we were still able to tap the resources of existing and potential teams under the PASL umbrella to substitute quality opponents,” said PASL-Pro Commissioner Kevin Milliken. “The show must, and will, go on.”
The Cougars and PASL-Pro also announce that the transfer of game information from the January 11 United States Arena Soccer Open Cup match gives Stockton their ninth PASL-Pro win of the season. The change gives them a full two game lead in the Western Division over Denver. The Cougars will play the Dynamite in Denver on February 21 in a match that could potentially decided the Western Division.
Stockton has already qualified for the six-team PASL-Pro Championship Tournament that will be played between March 13 and March 15 at Stockton Arena. Clinching the Western Division will give Stockton a first round bye, meaning that they will play on Saturday, March 13 against a yet-to-be determined opponent.
