Pitcher Lucas Stackpole kept the Spreckels Park Little League minor-division Angels in check Tuesday and led the Astros to a 13-3 five-inning win in an elimination contest at Brock Elliott School.

Stackpole struck out 11 and allowed four hits – just one going into the fifth – and reached base four times with two RBI, including a run-scoring double.

The Astros put up five runs in the second inning behind an RBI triple by Jayden Ceja and an RBI double by Tommy Miller (2 for 3, double, three RBI, three runs, walk). Josiah Lott ended the inning when he cleared the bases with a double, but unfortunately only one of the three runs scored as the first run off of Lott’s bat was the fifth of the inning, the maximum amount allowed to score in every inning but the sixth.

The Astros had eight hits and drew 13 walks with Noah Aguirre going 2 for 3 with two RBI, a run and a walk and Derek McGuire walking three times.

Seamus McKenzie (2 for 2, two runs) singled to start off the second inning for the Angels and came in to score on an error off the bat of Ace Basile. McKenzie and Basile singled to start the fifth with McKenzie scoring on an RBI single by Luke Johnson and Basile coming in on an error.
