Cowboys JV topples Vikings in overtime

STOCKTON — Jason Aucello found Angel Ramirez with a 10-yard touchdown pass in overtime to give the Manteca Cowboys junior varsity a 12-6 win over the Edison Vikings in DYSA action at Edison High School. 

Aucello was 3 of 4 passing for 38 yards with another touchdown pass of 4 yards to Dylan Lee. Keona Cayode had eight carries for 58 yards for Manteca with Christian Ray, Jamari Hodge and Dominic Kempf also contributing on offense.

Xavier Mendez led the Cowboys defense with eight tackles and an interception. Bryan Howe Jr. added six tackles and Dominic Kempf and Hodge three apiece. Josiah Lott, Frank Beltran and Christian Ray two each. Ryan Torres, Lott, and Ray all made one fumble recovery.

 

Rookies

Cowboys 0

The Cowboys offense had problems getting on track in the rain. 

Gabriel Flores, Bryson Davis, Ace Avalar, Donavon Jones, Landon Butler and Joey Lopez all had highlights for the Manteca offense. 

George Mendoza led the Cowboys with seven tackles. Izayah Houston added six stops, Bryson Davis four and Blake Mount and Joshua Alexander three apiece.

Robbie Espinosa scored two touchdowns to help keep the Cowboys undefeated.

Espinosa had nine carries for 63 yards. Christopher Gallego added one touchdown, gaining 91 yards on 15 carries and Nate Cedolini had 17carries for 110 yards rush with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Morales.

Gallego had 10 tackles for Manteca. Cedolini and Koa Rodrigues added eight stops, Kayden Jones and Anthony Oteri six apiece and Gabriel Lopez and Shane Lewis five apiece.

Junior varsity

Jr. Timberwolves 56,

Manteca Chargers 7

The Jr. Timberwolves’ Gianni Addiego set the tone for the day when he returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown Saturday at East Union High’s Dino Cunial Field. 

Addiego added a 25-yard touchdown run. Marcelo Morales scored on runs of 30 and 50 yards with Alijah Cota scoring from18 yards out, Niko Nunez on a 13-yard run and Payton Graham from 10 yards out. Luke Weaver 4 of 6 passing for 43 yards with a 15-yard touchdown throw to Alonzo Drew.

Cota led the Jr. Timberwolves defense with five tackles and a fumble recovery. Drew and Gustavo Delgadillo also had five tackles, Payton Graham (fumble recovery) made four stops and Gannon Anderson three.

 

Jr. Novice

Jr. Timberwolves 25,

Manteca Chargers 8

Julian Moncada followed and outstanding effort put forth by of Chad Nascimento, William Ellis, P.J. Ellis, Erik Vaquera, and Zachary Dunham to score four touchdowns.

The Jr. Timberwolves racked up 280 rushing yards with 10 first downs. Moncada had touchdown runs of 16, 39, 45 and 48 yards. Owen Gully added 33 yards on nine carries.

Albert Menchaca led the Jr Timberwolves defense with eleven tackles. Julian Moncada, Roman Guzman, and Damian Delgadillo (two sacks) added six stops apiece and Preston Smith had five tackles with a fumble recovery.

TRANS-VALLEY

Novice 

Ripon Knights 21,

Denair Lions 6

The Knights scored on both offense and defense Saturday at Ripon Christian High School. 

Preston Zuidervaart and Hunter Steele got rushing touchdowns for Ripon and Carson Sanders returned an interception for a touchdown.

Mensonides, Anden Ries and Sanders led the Knights defense.
