Two former area football standouts from the Class of 2011 are making some noise out of state.

East Union graduate Teejay Gordon will continue playing after a decorated career for College of Idaho, as he was recently signed by the Dodge City Law of the Champions Professional Indoor Football League.

Thayer, meanwhile, made the 2016 Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Southern Division Team and was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year. The Sierra alumnus plays for Missouri Valley College, a ranked team in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Gordon holds program records for Modesto Junior College and College of Idaho. The 6-foot, 190-pound quarterback passed for 4,109 yards and 21 touchdowns in his two years at C of I. Gordon transferred from MJC in 2014 when C of I’s football team was revived after a 37-year hiatus.

“Teejay is that guy who stands out on film and always makes plays,” Dodge City owner/general manager/head coach Sean Ponder said in a statement. “He is very athletic and can throw the ball well. He had a great college career and we are excited to see what he can do.”

The Law are based in Dodge City, Kansas. They’re one of 14 teams from the Midwest and Texas that are part of the CPIFL.

Thayer helped lead No. 11th-ranked Missouri Valley to a 9-3 record and an appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series. The 5-9, 202-pound senior linebacker piled up a school-record 111 tackles, which led the division and ranked him fifth in the NAIA. He also had 21.5 tackles for losses, 11 sacks and two forced fumbles.
