Manteca’s girls golf team suffered its first defeat of the Valley Oak League season on Thursday, but head coach Andrea Hiatt is focused on the positives.

Oakdale beat the Buffaloes 232-285 on the Manteca Park Golf Course front nine. All five of Oakdale’s scorers were in the 40s with Taylor Stewart’s 5-over par 42 leading the way.

Manteca, though, continued to shave strokes despite playing its third match in as many days. Kylee Eberle carded an all-time best 51. Taylor Reed finished with a 56, Bella Gonzales and Sierra Martinez each had a 59, and Haighley Kissee rounded out the team score with a 60. Hiatt said she set a goal for her players to score under 60 and was proud to see the majority of them achieve that.
