Manteca Juniors fall in TOC consolation

STOCKTON — The Salida Giants took advantage of two Manteca Giants errors in the first inning Sunday to score three runs on the way to a 13-2 Salida win in consolation action of the District 67 Juniors Tournament of Champions at Paul Weston Park in Weston Ranch.

Salida took advantage of another Manteca error in the third inning to help build its lead to 5-1 in the third inning and put the game away with seven runs in the final two innings.

 Manteca got on the board in the second inning when Christian Tonna broke home when Kai Begonia’s bunt was played to first and the Salida catcher could not handle the throw home. Kevin Thornburg (2 for 3) singled in the fourth inning for Manteca, stole second and third and came home on a passed ball.

River Weahunt pitched three strong innings for Manteca, striking out five.
