TURLOCK – Manteca’s Seth Van Dyk belted two home runs Saturday as part of a 12-hit Manteca attack in a 13-10 win over Morada in opening-round action of the Section 6 10-11-year-old All-Star Tournament at Julien Field.
Leading 5-4 going into the top of the fifth, Manteca erupted for eight runs to get a little bit of breathing room, getting all eight runs with two outs. Tyler Paul Wentworth (2 for 4, three RBI, two doubles, two runs) had the big bang of the frame, lacing a bases-clearing double that scored Rex Watson, Chris Chavez and Jojo Brizuela. Van Dyk (4 for 4, four RBI, two home runs, four runs) brought Wentworth home with his second home run of the night.
Earlier in the inning Watson singled in Blake Mejorado (2 for 4, double, RBI, two runs) and Mejorado doubled in Landon Chamberlain.
Wentworth doubled to start the game and was singled in by Van Dyk. Chavez singled in Brizuela in the second and Van Dyk belted his first home run in the third.
Manteca lost 14-11 in seven innings Sunday night and play in a consolation game this evening at 7.
