DAVIS — The Manteca FC Benfica under-10 girls soccer team capped a strong effort in the Davis Legacy Super Clasico Summer Edition tournament with a second-place finish this past Sunday.

Manteca rebounded well after dropping its opening match in the championship division. Joanna Roa scored her first of six goals on Saturday, but Benfica came up short 2-1 against FC Elk Grove Platinum.

Roa and the rest of the squad took it out on North Coast FC Petaluma Blue, rolling to an 8-2 victory. Roa netted five goals, while Chloe Silva, Presley Perez and Morgan-Nevaeh Yslava added one apiece.

Early Sunday morning, Benfica nipped a talented Livermore squad 1-0 with Savannagh Scott providing the lone goal. Livermore Fusion had already secured a spot in the final round, while Benfica needed to win to get in.

The Fusion would get their revenge in the final, winning 3-0 for the tournament title.

Manteca FC Benfica, coached by Jason Silva, is also comprised of Payton Abrew, Jenni Nassayan, Tatiana Orozco, Jaylyn Ruiz and Kaya Whittaker.
