TRACY — Spreckels Park is going to need to get a bigger flag pole.

Spreckels Park’s 6-3 win over Northgate on Monday at Monticello School makes the second consecutive year that Spreckels Park has won the District 67 Junior All-Star Tournament.

“This is awesome,” Spreckels Park coach Jason Cook said. “This feels just as awesome as the last one did.

“This group of kids played their butts off all season. These kids have been playing together since 9-10 All Stars and they are really meshing.”

Northgate fired a shot across the Spreckels Park bow to start the game. Asiah Scott led off the game for Northgate with a triple and scored when Andrew Oliveras hit a single for a 1-0 lead.

That lead did not last long.  Jesse Ortiz-Martinez, Slyder Blyth and Rafael Diaz walked to start the Spreckels Park first and each one came in on a singles by Louis Aquila (3 for 3, double, RBI), Joseph Lomeli and Frankie Vela.

Fernando Segura doubled to start the Northgate third and came in on an error. Scott Walked in the fifth for Northgate and came in to score on a Ty Harper single to make the score 5-3.

Aguila accounted for two more Spreckels Park runs – he led off the third with a single and scored on a single by pinch hitter Jacob Nagy and he singled in Slyder Blyth in the fourth.

Spreckels Park begins the Section 6 All Star Tournament Thursday, July 16 at Monticello School.
