Spreckels Park falls in Juniors section opener

TRACY – Spreckels Park dropped the opener of the Section 6 Juniors All-Star Tournament to Delta of Stockton 8-1 at Tracy Ball Park on Sunday. 

Zachary Fonseca’s RBI scored Justin Bretao in the bottom of the fourth for Spreckels Park’s only run. Fonseca recorded seven outs at shortstop in the first four innings including an unassisted double play to end the third inning. Fonseca spent two innings on the mound, recording two strikeouts with one walk.

Jacob Martinez was 2 for 3 for Spreckels Park.

Spreckels Park plays Amador in a consolation game today at 5:30 p.m.

Northgate Red 27,

Tracy American 3 (4)

Northgate Red put up 12 runs in the second inning and 10 in the third on the way to a four-inning mercy-shortened win Sunday to avenge the loss that sent Northgate to the consolation bracket and set up a championship tilt with Northgate Blue this afternoon at 5:30 at Tracy Little League’s Legacy Fields. 

Noah Navarro had the big bat for Northgate, going 4 for 4 with three RBI, a double and three runs. George Mendoza was also 4 for 4, notching a triple and four runs. Hunter Canady was 4 for 5 with two RBI, a double and two runs, while Quinn Martinez scored five runs, going 2 for 2 with two walks and he was hit by a pitch. 

Collins Schluer scored five times with four walks and a double and Blake Mount was 2 for 4 with an RBI, double, three runs and a walk. 

Northgate comes into today’s championship game on a roll having outscored it sopponents in this tournament 118-32.


Northgate Red 12,

Manteca White 11

Outstanding Northgate defense stopped a Manteca comeback in the sixth-inning consolation semifinal action Saturday.

Northgate center fielder Navarro got the ball home to catcher Mendoza on a two-out hit in the sixth. Mendoza caught the Manteca runner off of third and gunned the ball to  Canady at third who got the tag down to end the game. 

Martinez spearheaded the Northgate offense, going 3 for 4 with four RBI and three runs.  Mendoza (1 for 3) had two RBI while Cash Lee (1 for 2, run), Canady (1 for 3) and Schluer (1 for 3, walk) all knocked in one run. 

Mount was 2 for 3 with two doubles, three runs and a walk. Robbie Espinoza was 2 for 2 with a double, a run and was hit by a pitch and Navarro (run) hit a double. Ryan Guibar and D’Angelo Canela each scored a run.

Preston Smith (three runs) and Isaac Acuna (two runs, double) were both 3 for 4 for Manteca. Edward Anthony was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs and Lorenzo Vargas tripled. Eliseo Cervantez, Hayden Coranado, Jonathon Salinas and Chase Porter all scored a run for Manteca.  


Northgate Blue 15,

Tracy American 4 

Rudy Barney pitched the first three innings Saturday for Northgate and struck out five. Richie Hughes, Maddox Torres, and Koa Rodriguez took turns after that shutting down Tracy.

Maddox Torres led a balanced Northgate hitting attack, going 3 for 3 with two RBI and two runs. Nick Garcia (3 for 4) tripled, had two RBI and scored three runs, Brayden Camara 2 for 3 tripled and scored twice, Rudy Barney (double) and Hughes (two RBI) were both 2 for 4 with a run, Derek Hardcastle (run) and Davien Fagundes were both 1 for 2 with an RBI, Rodriguez (2 for 5) had two RBI, a triple and a run, Adan Rosas (1 for 3) had an RBI, Devon Richardson (1 for 4) scored two runs and Ricky Cabudoy was 1 for 1.  

Northgate Blue faces Northgate Red in championship action this afternoon at 5:30.
