JV team clobbers Empire to clinch DYFL top seed

The Manteca Junior Timberwolves junior varsity clinched the top seed in the upcoming Delta Youth Football playoffs with a 43-0 shellacking of visiting Empire at Dino Cunial Field on Saturday. 

Marcelo Morales carried the ball four times for Manteca with each carry resulting in a touchdown, gaining 157 yards and scoring from 11, 40, 42 and 64 yards out. Luke Weaver (8 for 14 passing, 55 yards) had a 5-yard scoring run and Gianni Addiego scored on a 4-yard run. 

Alijah Cota added 57 yards on four carries and Alonzo Drew made three catches for 37 yards.

Gustavo Delgadillo led the Jr. Timberwolves defense with 10 tackles. Alijah Cota (interception), Payton Graham and Gannon Anderson had five tackles apiece and Jason Seabron and Alonzo Drew added three stops each.

Manteca Jr. T’wolves 18, Empire Vikings 14

Julian Moncada scored three touchdowns for the Jr. Timberwolves

Moncada led the offense with 195 yards rushing on seven carries with touchdown runs of 35, 40 and 65 yards. Preston Smith added 25 yards on six carries.

The Manteca defense was led by Damian Delgadillo and Albert Menchaca with 12 tackles each. Roman Guzman and Erik Vaquera added 10 stops apiece, Julian Moncada eight and Owen Gully and Robert Gaston five tackles each.

Manteca Jaguars 36,

Atwater Falcons 7

Adrian Ochoa led a balanced Jaguars defense at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium. 

Ochoa had seven carries for 108 yards with a 58-yard touchdown run. Joel Yuson scored from 8-yards out, Daniel Covarubias on a 6-yard run, Isaiah Rollins from 11 yards out and Victor Martinez on a 64-yard kickoff return.

Jacob Martinez, Christian Threadgill and Lane Cefalu had five tackles each for Manteca and Yuson (interception) had four.
