What a difference a year makes. After finishing last season with a dismal 6-22 mark, the East Union High girls basketball team clinched at least a tie for the VOL crown with a 45-33 drubbing of Ceres High Thursday night at Dalben Center. The win left the Lady Lancers (8-1 VOL, 23-3 overall) with a one-game advantage over Sonora and Manteca Highs. After EU had built up a 35-14 lead early in the third quarter, Coach Mark Liles emptied his bench and went with at least three reserves on the court for the balance of the game. Freshman Danelle Liles led EU with 13 points. Angie Paradzinski had 13 rebounds for the Lady Lancers.
