Attracting five teams and well over 650 competitive swimmers, the Oakdale Invitational 2000 promised the Manteca Dolphins one thing only--it would be a race to the finish. With an excess of nearly 100 Manteca Dolphins competing--ranging from 5 to 17 years of age--the Dolphins out-touched their opponents for 101 ribbons, including five first place ribbons, six second place ribbons and 10 consolation ribbons. Aside from the team’s overall success, 17-year-old Tiffany Vaught personally demolished two meet records in the 50 butterfly and the 50 breaststroke. Vaught was the most decorated Dolphin, garnering two first place ribbons and a second. Her time in the fly was 33.48. In the 50 breast, Vaught splashed in at 37.62. Swimming one of her slower times, she finished the 100 medley in 1:33.76.
