STOCKTON (AP) — Cody Reed allowed just two hits over six innings, leading the Visalia Rawhide over the Stockton Ports in a 3-0 win on Wednesday.
Reed (1-2) struck out eight and walked one to pick up the win.
In the top of the third, Visalia grabbed the lead on a double by Matt Jones that scored Austin Byler. The Rawhide then added single runs in the eighth and ninth innings. In the eighth, Matt McPhearson scored on a ground out, while Byler scored on a forceout in the ninth.
A.J. Puk (4-5) went 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run and five hits to take the tough loss in the California League game. He also struck out 11 and walked one. Bud Jeter recorded his 15th save of the season.
The Ports were held scoreless for the seventh time this season, while the Rawhide’s staff recorded their seventh shutout of the year.
