“The best things happen while you’re dancing;” or so the old Irving Berlin song goes. To make this Valentine’s holiday weekend a trip through the light fantastic, join the Modesto Ballroom Club for a special evening event.
Dust off those dancing shoes and get ready to dance the night away on Feb. 15, as the Modesto Ballroom Dance Club hosts a couple’s night out at the Seasons on McHenry. The event will include Rumba dance lessons and a chance to mingle with other couples.
“That night will be filled with good music and good company,” said MBDC membership chair Chris Billy. “Make it a date night with your special someone and dance the night away with the romantic sway of the Rumba.”
Dance lessons will be offered by the You Can Dance Company from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the lesson is included in the admission cost of $7. Social dancing will be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Modesto Ballroom Club regularly hosts dances the first and third Fridays of most months at the Seasons Event Center.
“Our dances welcome and encourage anyone age 16 and over who has an interest in ballroom dancing, said Billy. “We also extend an invitation to anyone under the age of 16 who has ballroom dancing experience and has the ability to follow proper floor etiquette to join us at any of our dances.”
Don’t have a date? No problem. MBDC also invites singles who are ready to mingle to put on their dancing shoes and sway away with other singles.
“This event is not only for couples,” said Billy. “Over the years we’ve seen many singles join in the fun. We play music throughout the evening and there’s a lot of socializing going on. Don’t be surprised if someone you don’t know asks you for a dance.”
The Seasons is located at 945 Mc Henry Ave., Modesto.
Being single for Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a torment. With several Valentine’s events scheduled annually, it can be fun and exciting time for singles too. The State Theatre is hosting its first Singles Mingle at the State on Feb. 13.
Adult singles will have the opportunity to meet new friends and possibly connect with that special someone through live music, wine tasting and a screening for the romantic comedy “Serendipity.” There will also be special drawings for dinner for two and a bottle of Silkwood’s wine. Admission is $10 per person (must be 21 years of age and older). Doors open at 6 p.m. The State is located at 1307 J St., Modesto.
So whether you’re flying solo or have a loved one by your side, make your Valentine’s Day a special night to remember.
