ROSEVILLE — If you are going to make a splash, make it a big one.
No Mid-Valley Swim League team has ever placed in the top three of the season-ending Sacramento Valley Meet of Champions — until Sunday. The Ripon Sea Lions capped the two-day extravaganza at the Roseville Aquatics Center by placing first in the small-team division with 522 points, edging the Johnson Ranch Barracudas of Roseville who had 504 points. What made things even more impressive was that the Sea Lions had just 17 swimmers.
The Manteca Dolphins finished in 28th place with 21 points, all recorded by William Story.
Emery Biedermann and Nate Slikker paced the Ripon charge.
