It took two overtimes, but the Manteca Chargers varsity edged the host Franklin Jr. Jackets 42-40 in Delta Youth Football action at Franklin High School on Saturday.

Manteca’s Julian Baez (11 carries, for 163 yards) scored on 1-, 13- and 43 yard runs and on an 80-yard kickoff return. Jordan Omadhebo (four carries, 63 yards) added a 33-yard touchdown run and Fernando Martinez scored on a 10-yard run.

Baez posted six tackles, Omadhebo five, Martinez four and Joseph Pepe three.

Jr. varsity

Jr. Jackets 33, Chargers 6

Manteca’s Marcus Pimental scored on a 16-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Cameron Love and Sean Buckhout contributed to the Chargers offense.

Manteca’s Philip Dean posted three stops while Jae’Len Ducksworth and Jayden Suarez contributed to the defense.

Novice

Jr. Jackets 20, Chargers 18

Franklin scored in the fourth quarter for the come-from-behind win.

Manteca’s hit Shayne Sutherland Jr. (3 carries, 70 yards) scored on a 57-yard run and on a 43-yard touchdown pass from Brayden Fiance (2 for 2 passing, 53 yards). Amari Reed added a 10-yard touchdown run.

Sutherland Jr. tallied eight stops, Luciano Banez-Malena five, with four apiece for Grayson Flowers and Kason Hendrix. Reed added a pair of interceptions.

Jr. Novice

Jr. Jackets 46, Chargers 0

Manteca’s Kyro Denton notched four tackles and forced a fumble.

Giovanni Jordan added an interception and Ezekiel Yepez contributed to the defense.

Trans-Valley

Ripon Knights junior novice 36, Ceres Seahawks 6

Nicolas Rangel scored three touchdowns for the Knights at Central Valley High School in Ceres.

Rangle racked up 104 yards on nine carries. Austin Chaney (five carries, 51 yards) added a pair of touchdown runs and Gunnar Gorbunoff (six carries, 40 yards) scored on an 8-yard run. Dalton Schmidt Jr. added 63 yards on three carries and Hudson Browne posted three carries for 40 yards.

Ripon’s Austin Chaney, Jack Cardoza and Malachi Clayton posted four tackles each. Rangel (two interceptions), Gorbunoff, Maddox Soyangco and Walter De Jong added three stops apiece with Michael MacNeilage, Bryson Ceniceroa, Hudson Browne and Callen Newell all contributing to the defense.
