Manteca Soroptimist is again supporting Manteca Unified School District with the service club’s ongoing commitment to teen crisis counseling and scholarships for local high school seniors.
The club’s dedication to Teen Crisis began in 1987, following a heartbreaking year that included four teen suicides and a football-related injury.
Those events inspired Manteca Soroptimist members to find a meaningful way to support local teens and help address the challenges young people face.
Since then, Manteca Soroptimist has contributed $399,500 toward teen crisis counseling over the past 37 years. This year, with the additional assistance of a Raymus Foundation grant, the club was able to donate $7,500 to continue supporting the programs.
These contributions are made possible through the many fundraisers Manteca Soroptimist hosts throughout the year. The funds help support Teen Crisis counseling services and provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors within the MUSD district.
And speaking of fundraisers, mark your calendars.
Manteca Soroptimist invites the community to its 47th annual Holiday Affair on Wednesday, December 9, at the Bank of Stockton, located at 665 N. Main Street in Manteca.
The festivities will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A $100 ticket admits two guests and includes hors d'oeuvres and adult beverages, making it a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season while supporting a great cause.
You can purchase your tickets by calling Tedra Torrice at 209-679-6074.
