The Board of Trustees of the Manteca Unified School District will consider Tuesday the appointments of second-in-command positions at two high schools.

The appointments of a vice principal at Sierra High School and an assistant principal at Weston Ranch High School will be considered by the trustees during the closed session of their regular meeting July 26. The meeting will be held in the district office board room at 2271 West Louise Avenue. The closed session will begin at 6 p.m. followed by open session at 7 p.m.

The vacancy at Sierra High School was created when former vice principal Steven Clark was promoted in May as principal of the Timberwolves. He served as Sierra High’s vice principal from 2002 until his new appointment at the helm.

The position of assistant principal at Weston Ranch became vacant when Frank Gonzales was appointed by the Board of Education in June as the new principal at Manteca High succeeding Doug McCreath who was promoted to assistant superintendent of educational services at San Joaquin County School of Education.

Clark was approved for the principal position at Sierra High by unanimous vote. Gonzales’ appointment was approved by a 6-1 vote with Trustee Nancy Teicheira the only one opposed to it.

At the board meeting on Tuesday, the trustees are also scheduled to consider:

•ratifying an addendum to the district superintendent’s contract.

•adopting a resolution authorizing the school district’s contribution to the Manteca Unified School Trust Foundation for the 2011-12 school year.

•Establishing a naming committee that will be responsible in deciding what to name the Athletic Field at Lathrop High School.
