Manteca Historical Society’s 26th Annual Gourmet Sampler was a resounding success Sunday afternoon with purveyors of drink and food serving samples to benefit the museum.
Dressed in period costumes of the early 1900s, Alan and Jeanie Marsden were sitting just inside the lobby door offering raffle tickets to those attending.  They have lived in Manteca for some 18 years after their retirement from Sunnyvale. They have dedicated countless hours to the historical society.  Alan worked as an engineer with Lockheed-Martin in a packaging program.
The Manteca Unified School District was represented with their Nutrition Education program showcasing the students’ Wednesday luncheon coffee shop venue that’s open to the public at the MUSD office complex on Louise Avenue. Many students from that program have gone on to attend culinary school.
Caroline Elness, owner of the Olive Oil Pantry on South Main Street, was on hand with her usual charm offering samples of her many choices in oils.
Edible Arrangement original owner Dorothy and Randy Lim were there too with new owner Ed Martin. Martin is a product of New Haven Elementary School and East Union High School.  Edible Arrangements is located in the center anchored by Chipolte’s on Yosemite Avenue adjacent to Highway 99.
The vendors included the Chit Chat Café and Bakery, Strings Bar & Grill, Rookies Sports Bar & Grill, Café Aroma, Bugle Boy Café from the VFW Post, Miner Mart, Mama Weber’s Southern Kitchen & Barbecue, Peace, Love, Shave Ice, Guido’s Take-U-Bake Pizza, Delicato Family Vineyards, Costco Wholesale, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Sakana Japanese Bistro, Tandoori Grill, Angelano’s , Carniceria Rosita, Panera, Edible Arrangements, Hong Kong Restaurant and  the Olive Oil Pantry.
The Manteca Museum is located at 600 West Yosemite Avenue. It is open Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 1 until 4 p.m.  For information call 209.825.3021 or go online at themantecamuseum.org or facebook.com/mantecamuseum.
