High school students are being sought to apply for five vacancies on the Manteca Youth Advisory Commission.

The Manteca City Council earlier this month appointed Manteca High student Derek Benson and East Union High students Madina Shuja, Rachel Glantz, and Jonah Ledesma.

Benson is a Manteca High junior who participates in cross country, wrestling, and golf. Shuja is the East Union High senior class secretary. Glantz is an East Union High senior who has been involved with leadership activities at the campus. Ledesma is an East Union High senior serves as sergeant of arms for the East Union KIWINS.

The youth group coordinates a number of events including the teen dances and assists with various community projects. They also are called on occasionally to advise the council on youth issues.
