It’s “All or Nuttin’ 2016” for the May 7 Rina’s Run.
That’s the slogan for the ninth annual fundraising event sponsored once again by Brocchini Farms along with Dr. Calvin Lee and Dr. Tammy Wu of Surgical Artistry. Proceeds will go towards the Ripon Community Athletic Foundation’s efforts towards improving the Ripon High School stadium.
Stouffer Field is where the half marathon, 10K and 5K runs begin and ends. The pre-registration period is currently underway through May 1.
Cost is $35 for the 5K and 10K, and $60 for the half marathon.
After that, the price bumps up to $40 for the 5K and 10K, and $70 for the half marathon through race day.
Participants age 17 and under can pay $25 for the 5K and 10K, and $40 for the half marathon.
At a recent Ripon Unified school board meeting, Stephanie Hobbs, president of RCAF, noted that cadets of the RHS Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corp, as part of the program requirement, will take part in the 5K event at no cost thanks to the support of American Legion Post 190.
In addition, Beast Pacing, a group of professional pacers who help runners of all levels achieve their goals but in a fun way, is also back for Rina’s Run, providing that boost to the half marathon.
Rina’s Run has been a major fundraiser for RCAF since the grassroots efforts towards improving and remodeling the RHS stadium began in2007.
At this point, RCAF is looking to add new restrooms – plans call to incorporate ADA-compliant facilities with the ticket booth – at the entrance of the stadium. The current restrooms are the old ones in otherwise poor condition next the junior varsity baseball field.
The school board agreed to set aside $50,000 for the community match for the new restrooms, with RCAF and the RHS Booster Club combining efforts to raise their half of the share.
Shari Hernandez, president of the boosters, said that those who donate by June 15 will be recognized with their name or names published in the 2016-17 Ripon Community Coupon book.
