The California Alliance for Retired Americans is conducting a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Manteca Transit Center at South Main Street and Moffat Boulevard regarding what they refer to as “cuts and closures at Kaiser Manteca Medical Center”.

“Manteca retirees and their Kaiser nurses have been voicing concerns about cuts to critical services and a 50% reduction in hospital beds at the Kaiser Manteca Medical Center,” said Nan Brasmer, statewide president of the California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA).

This has led to delays in care and other impacts on seniors, such as being transferred to other hospitals, primarily the Kaiser Modesto Medical Center, thereby placing a hardship on these patients and their spouses. In addition, the volume of transfers by ambulance is also impacting 9-1-1 emergency response times throughout the region.
